Dr. Nick Machtell is an owner. He graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Rhonda, and their 3 kids, Chantel, Kayla, and Taylor. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and woodworking.
Dr. Magenau spent her grade school years in Manvel, ND and then moved to the family farm at Hamilton, ND in ‘92. She attended undergraduate school at NDSU and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry. She went on to attend Iowa State University and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2008. Dr. Magenau worked at Petcetera Animal Clinic in Grand Forks from 2008-2013, but always missed Fargo after leaving NDSU. She was then offered a position at Southgate Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Magenau and her husband, Luke, share their home with their dog, Shelby, and their cat, Xander. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, watching movies, reading, relaxing.
Dr. Clay Seright is originally from Granville, ND. He attended NDSU for undergraduate studies and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Seright enjoys Bison Athletics, hunting, fishing, and photography.
Lisha grew up in Watertown, SD. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from NDSU. She had been the Practice Manager at Southgate Veterinary Hospital since 2004. Lisha and her husband Mark have two sons, Alex and Hudsyn; and an assortment of animals. Outside of work she enjoys photography, stained glass, cheering for the NDSU Bison, and volunteering for the Alzheimer’s Association and the Red River Valley Lacrosse Association.
Dawn graduated in 1995 from NDSU with a Bachelors of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. She has been fortunate to have been working at Southgate ever since. Her special interests in her career are Dentistry and Client Education. Dawn and her husband, Brent have 4 children, Tiffany,Megan, Andrew and Dylan. They share their home with 2 cats, Whiska and Hermione. In her spare time, she enjoys being with family and friends, pet sitting, playing softball, biking and scrap booking.
Karin graduated from NDSU in 2000 with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology, and a minor in Microbiology. She was offered an intern position with Southgate Veterinary Hospital, and was hired soon after. Her areas of interest include anesthesia, surgical nursing, and critical care. She enjoys going to the lakes with family, watching movies with friends, and she has recently taken up golf, “FORE”!
Ali graduated from NDSU in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. She has worked at Southgate Veterinary Hospital since September 2006. At work, Ali enjoys spending time educating and getting to know our clients and their pets, and working in dentistry, surgery, and critical care. In her spare time, she enjoys riding motorcycle, reading, camping, and spending time with her daughters Ashlyn and Ella, cats Dax & Steve, and other family and friends.
Vickie graduated from the University of MN, Waseca in 1983, with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She practiced in the FM area until 1999.
Then took time to raise a family and follow a different career path. Vickie is married to Darren and they have one son, Devin. She is happy to be "back in the saddle" following her FIRST career choice. Her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine include client education, surgical nursing, and lab work.
They live on a farm 60 miles from Fargo that offers assisted living to geriatric Equine. They share their farm with 3 dogs, 4 cats, and 8 horses (7 of which are geriatric).
When Vickie is not working on the farm and doing chores inside or out; she enjoys spending time with family and animals.
Her outside hobbies include: riding horse, camping, gardening, and snowmobiling. Indoor hobbies include reading,
crocheting, and preserving the fruits and vegetables from her garden.
Beth graduated from an animal health technology program in San Diego, CA in
2003 and shortly after moved to Fargo. She has been a licensed vet tech since 2008.
She is interested in veterinary surgery, anesthesia, and dentistry. She is a Certified Veterinary
Dental Technician through the American Society of Veterinary Dental Technicians. Beth joined the Southgate team in March 2009.
She is married to Brice and they enjoy spending time being lazy couch potatoes, watching movies and snuggling their pets, and hanging out with family and friends.
They have two dogs, Sue (who is a boy!) and Marty (pictured), a cat named Nesta, and Stella, a box turtle.
Amanda graduated from NDSU in 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology. She came to Southgate Veterinary Hospital as an intern and got hired shortly after. She enjoys dealing with animal behavior issues and surgeries. Amanda loves spending time with her family, husband Jessy and daughter Avery, going to movies, camping, fishing, baking, and cooking. She has 2 Pit bull mixes named Harley and Rush.
Zac grew up in Sauk Rapids, MN along with his family pet a golden doodle named “Louie”. He attended NDSU and graduated in August 2014. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, he is a sports fanatic, which includes cheering for the MN Vikings. He enjoys being outdoors and spending weekends with his family at the lakes where he enjoys waterskiing.
Amanda attended NDSU for Veterinary Technology and joined the Southgate team in September of 2014. She works in customer service and also as a veterinary assistant. Amanda has a passion for animal rescue and she volunteers for 4 Luv of Dog Rescue. She has two rescues of her own; a “super mutt” named Sawyer and a cat named Haul-E, and often has a foster dog that crashes on her couch while it’s waiting to find its forever home. In her spare time, Amanda loves hanging out with family and friends, doing anything artsy or crafty, and spending time outdoors doing anything from mountain biking to snowshoeing.
Sam is originally from Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She has lived in many places since then including North Carolina, England, and Arizona.
She was an emergency technician in Tuscon before moving up to Fargo in 2014. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her
family which includes her daughter, Elsa, her husband, Cody, and her 5 fur babies, Gus (dog), Otto (dog), Frank (dog), Cinder (dog),
and Archie (cat)! Some of her favorite past times include traveling, hiking, gardening and fishing.
Jana joined the Southgate team in December 2012 and has worked for the Red River Animal Emergency Clinic since December 2008. She is interested in assisting clients and their pets with their veterinary needs, with a special interest in emergency medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys attending to her patio garden, crocheting, reading, and relaxing with her dog Betsy, her cat Max and her two hesgehogs Nym and Wendel.
Bree is originally from Minnetonka, MN and moved to the FM area fall of 2012. She is currently attending Globe University, finishing her degree in Veterinary Technology. Bree joined our team in the Summer of 2015, she also has been working at the Red River Animal Emergency Clinic since Fall of 2014. She has a special interest in emergency medicine and critical care. In her free time, Bree likes to read, hunt, fish, ride horses, and hang out with her friends, and family. Her pets include two cats named Zoey and Smokey, and a black lab puppy named Gauge.
Shelby graduated from NDSU with a degree in Veterinary Technology and a minor in Zoology. She is a certified scuba diver and hopes to someday swim with the whale sharks. Shelby enjoys taking her corgi, Lucy, for walks and snuggling with her cat, Abby. She's an amazing baker, likes to read and is super crafty. Shelby joined the Southgate team in March 2016.
Haley is from Thief River Falls, MN. She went to school at Northland Community and Technical College in TRF for generals and played on their Volleyball team. She moved to Fargo almost 5 years ago, and is going to school online at Animal Behavior College for Vet Assistant. She also work at Buffalo Wild Wings on the weekends! She has a dog named Tucker and they like going on walks and snuggling. In her spare time she likes hanging out with friends and family, working out and doing any thing outdoors.
Annie graduated from Oak Grove High School in 2013. She has always had a passion for animals of all sizes and sorts. Ever since she can remember she has always wanted to work in the veterinary field. Annie is currently attending NDSU in the pre-veterinary technician program. Annie is also employed at the Red River Animal Emergency Clinic. In her past time Annie enjoys spending time with her Afghan hound, Dalton, her leopard gecko, Rico, and her family Chihuahuas, Chico and Lacy
